Mienh Christian Youth Association-USA

Welcome to the Mienh Christian Youth Association
(MCYA-USA)
.

We appreciate your interest and willingness to help. Please allow us to introduce you to our MCYA-USA. You will find it to be a terrific place to minister for Christ! This ministry started twelve years ago. And as our Christian brothers and sisters continue in providing support, it will continue to minister to the young people of the Mienh Communities in America.

Our goal at MCYA is to be the role model for thousands of Mienh youth all over the West Coast of the United State of America. Mienh Christian Youth Association (MCYA-USA) is endeavoring to help all the Mienh young people (though not exclusively) to develop a personal relationship with God; to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and ultimately commit their lives to serve Him, either in full time Christian ministries or as faithful Christians fully committed to live Godly lives. We will diligently teach our young people to apply Biblical principles to all aspects of their lives and help them to resolve any conflicts in the light of the Scriptures. It is our desire that each young life that comes across our path will have an opportunity to learn how to live a successful Christian life and to be fully committed to put Christ as number one priority in his/her own life. We hope to give them a head start and a solid foundation in Christ as they are progressing in the real world.

MCYA ministry is divided into three components: camping, scholarship, and missions. MCYA holds an annual youth camp that gathers about 300 to 400 junior high and senior high young people to hear the gospel. In the past these campers have come from as far north as Vancouver, Canada and as far south as Long Beach, California. We have an average of 300 campers per year. The majority of the campers are from the San Francisco Bay Area. Nearly 80% of the campers live in impoverished inner-city situations which bring along many other problems. Many of our campers are from non-Christian homes and as a result, many of them turn to the streets seeking attention and support from wherever they can find it. Gangs are very typical of this alternative form of family structure. Once into the gangs, many kids get caught in a web of crime, drugs, fornication, etc.. Whatever the "crack" in society they have fallen through, there is little hope for them unless we bring them into the family of Jesus Christ. That is the primary purpose of our youth camp.

Our camping staff is very limited. At this point only 50% of our staff positions are filled. In order for our camp to run efficiently, more staff people are needed. Some of the areas of service include but are not limited to counselors, teachers, recreation staff, host chaperones, administrational assistants, transportation providers and whatever other talented people we can hope to get. Of the highest importance is the area of counseling. As of right now, we only have enough experienced counselors to have a 1:20 ratio of counselors to campers. We would like to lower that ratio down to at least 1:7, if not 1:5.

Even though we do not have much materially, we have the Lord. We are then compelled to give with whatever we have. The Lord said it is more joyful to give than to receive. Therefore, our second project is to establish a scholarship fund to assist students who want to go into Christian Colleges and Seminaries so that they can be trained to do the Lord's work. We rejoice in having $3,000 available for scholarships at this time. Thus we could award scholarships of $500.00 to six qualified applicants. This scholarship program does require a matching fund. So each recipient will have $1,000 of assistance. These scholarships are to be awarded to qualified students who have an interest in pursuing a career in Christian ministry or related fields. The recipients must demonstrate concern and commitment in the Christian Iu-Mienh Community in America. Scripture says "...without vision my people perish." Therefore we are to look beyond ourselves, that is to the mission fields here in USA, as well as overseas like Thailand, Laos and other South-East Asian countries. We also have Mienh Christian brothers and sisters in France, Denmark and Canada. We have in mind some evangelistic youth programs and sending young missionaries to these countries. We also would like to help support the radio ministry that broadcasts the gospel to countries that have Mienh populations. Where do we have such resources for such a world-wide ministry? When you have a great God, you cannot but think big. We are just patiently waiting for the Lord's leading. When He opens the door we will enter in.

Currently, the MCYA-USA is being organized by young adults from the various Mienh Churches. Support and direction are provided by Mienh Church leaders along with some advisory support from various evangelical churches.

Financially, we are a self-supporting ministry drawing income solely from camp registration fees. All of our staff people are serving on a volunteer basis. Nearly 75% of our camp staff personnel help us out by paying their own registration fees to get into our camp to work.

Therefore, we are asking you to consider how you might have a part in this exciting ministry that God might be calling you to. Whether it be volunteering your time, praying for us, supporting us financially or even just telling someone else about our ministry, we are sure that God will bless you for your contribution.

We would like to personally share with you about the MCYA-USA blessings that have come out of our ministry. Please feel free to contact us so that we can share with you more about our vision.
